At five very special locations, towers - so-called landscape windows - were erected. The idea was to look at the typical Ammerland landscape from an elevated position, as if through a window. Here you can admire the rhododendrons, wall hedges, geest edge descent, waterways and windmills from a different perspective.
5 Locations - 5 Perspectives
In 2002, the architect Ulrich Recker designed five very different towers for the state horticultural show in Bad Zwischenahn on various topics and at the same time assigned them very special figures.
The buildings are designed in such a way that when you enter you seem to be part of the staging yourself. From all the towers you have a unique view of the landscape and you can also "rest" there - because seating has been installed everywhere. So it's perfect to take a break during the next bike tour, to strengthen yourself and to enjoy the view. Meltwater valleys, meadows and pastures, mills, rhododendrons, tree and wall hedges are waiting to be discovered by you - so let's go!
You will experience all five landscape windows when you are on the 170 km long Ammerlandroute If you are particularly interested in a topic, we recommend one of the themed routes that lead past the desired landscape window:
