Kale

The kale tours have a long tradition in Ammerland. In winter, as soon as the kale season begins, many groups and clubs stroll through the wintry park landscape. Normally they pull a handcart with them, in which various drinks and food are stored. In order to keep warm during the mostly cool temperatures, the participants take part in various games of skill.

Traditionally people bosseln during the handcart tour. When playing the game of bosseln, a ball made of wood or rubber, similar to bowling, is rolled along the street with strength and skill. The goal of bosseln is to cover a set route with as few throws as possible. In addition, beer and liquor are served. The liqour is usually a clear liquor. After the tour the group returns to a restaurant, to eat kale and to dance.
