In spring, when the rhododendron is blooming, the asparagus season also begins. Travelling in the park landscape, you can watch the harvest workers picking asparagus in the fields.

In Ammerland you can buy asparagus fresh from the fields in our farm shops. Asparagus grows in so-called dams. Cracks in the smoothed ridges show the harvest workers where to cut the delicious asparagus. Then it is cleaned and sorted by hand and sold in farm shops. Asparagus is especially tasty when served with Ammerland ham.
